How I got here: the lid sticker that told me to visit Konsyl.com for a free shaker cup! I started off being a Metamucil junky when I was 28 or so (I'm 46 now), it just felt like a good daily habit. Tried other products... and when I found Konsyl (original), I was done. It just seems to work SO much better and doesn't add sugar or artificial sweeteners. It feels like the real deal... I hate it if I run out and have to use one of my standby "smooth fiber" products.

Great to see the sailing stuff here too... just in the middle of planning a bareboat charter, which we do every year or two. You can keep Newport-to-Bermuda... give me short passages ending in blue-green, reef-lined, sandy 15' deep bays!

My gastroenterologist suggested that I use Original Konsyl which I did. I have been procrastinating for some time about asking for the shaker cup. Of course your website is on the container top.
I have been stirring OK in the past. Your video on the use of the shaker makes it look a lot easer.

Thank you

Hey, Sophie Lee here, thanks for the shoutout! I didn't know the story about President Reagan, that's very interesting stuff! I do find it reassuring that you can be about as high achieving as you can get and still not be regular!

Faiz----

I hear what you are saying. In today's world you can almost get as many opinions for and against things. So what is right?

I have to go back to the one sources---"Doctors".
Generally speaking it is advised to avoid seeds and nuts.
You should discuss this with your physican and come to some management plan that fits your body.

I know not the answer you were looking. Thanks for the reply.

Frank-- I have looked on the internet and almost all articles suggest to increase your fiber intake and water consumption. I have not found any article saying not to eat cheese. One must be responsible. I believe if you make an appointment with your physician, he or she can review your diet and make a more informed decision based on your case. I have included some information which I believe is interesting. Thanks for the queston!

Below is an excerpt copied from the Mayo Clinic site:
A dietary supplement containing psyllium is a good way to increase fiber; plus, this tends to produce less gas than high-fiber foods.

An increase in fiber creates softer, bulkier stools that move more easily through your digestive system. This will lower the amount of pressure in your colon which is responsible for the development of diverticulosis and diverticulitis.

Increasing your water intake is crucial and a general rule of thumb is to drink at least ½ your body weight in ounces on a daily basis. Therefore, a 150-pound woman should drink 75 ounces of quality water (herbal teas, broth, and fresh juices can account for some of the liquid). Liquid aids in keeping the pouch-like areas clean of toxic wastes, preventing inflammation.
